What it does

Auphonic does the part of audio work that has a right answer: matching loudness to a target, reducing steady background noise, levelling speakers who recorded at different volumes, and encoding the result. It is not an editor and does not try to be. You upload finished audio, it processes and returns it, and the free allowance of two hours a month is enough for a weekly show of moderate length. There is an API and a command line tool, so it fits into an automated pipeline rather than requiring someone to sit in front of it.

  • TimeBoltDesktop silence and dead-air remover that hands its cut back to your editor.
  • GlingCuts silence and bad takes out of talking-head footage, aimed at YouTube creators.
