Tools to cut long video into clips

Clip generators, vertical reframing tools, and highlight finders that turn long recordings into short-form video, with dated free-tier facts and prices.

About this stage

One long recording contains several short ones, and the tools in this stage exist to find and cut them. They divide by how much they decide for you. At one end are reframing tools that take a clip you chose and handle the mechanical part, converting a wide shot into a vertical one and keeping the speaker in frame. At the other end are tools that watch the whole recording, propose the moments they think will hold attention, and cut them for you. The automatic ones are genuinely useful and genuinely uneven: what an algorithm scores as a strong moment and what your audience actually watches are related but not the same thing, so treat the output as a shortlist. Pricing in this stage is usually metered by minutes processed or by credits rather than by seat, so the free tier tells you very little about what regular use costs.

Choosing between these

Look past the free tier at the metered price, because that is what you will actually pay. Check whether free exports carry a watermark, since a watermarked vertical clip is not usable on most platforms. If you already know which moments you want, a reframing tool will cost less and give you more control than a tool that also picks the moments.
