Audience and growth tools

Analytics, retention analysis, keyword research, and audience research tools creators use to grow a channel, with dated free-tier facts and starting prices.

About this stage

Growth tools answer questions the platform dashboards answer slowly or not at all. They come in three kinds. Analytics tools go deeper than the built-in dashboard on the questions that change what you make: where viewers leave, which thumbnails and titles earned clicks, which videos bring in people who then watch more. Research tools look outward at what people are searching for and what is already ranking, which is how you decide what to make before you make it. Competitive tools track other channels in your subject. The honest caveat for this whole stage is that the tools measure and suggest but do not grow anything by themselves, and several of them are priced as though they did. Free tiers here are often the most useful part of the product, so each entry states exactly what the free plan covers.

Choosing between these

Start with the free platform analytics and only pay when you have a specific question they cannot answer. Prefer tools that show you retention and traffic sources over tools that produce a score. If a tool promises growth rather than measurement, check what it actually does, because that is usually where the price is highest and the mechanism least clear.
