Publishing and distribution tools

Schedulers, multi-platform uploaders, format converters, and metadata tools creators use to get finished video out, with dated free-tier facts and prices.

About this stage

Publishing looks like the simple stage and turns into the tedious one the moment you post to more than one place. Each platform wants a different aspect ratio, a different length, a different caption format, and its own title and description conventions, so the same finished video becomes five variants and five upload forms. The tools here reduce that. Schedulers hold your video and post it at a chosen time. Multi-platform uploaders push one file to several destinations and translate the metadata for each. Conversion and compression tools handle the format and file size requirements that stop an upload before it starts. This stage is also where file size and codec problems surface, usually as a failed upload with an unhelpful error, so a reliable converter is worth more than its unglamorous description suggests.

Choosing between these

Count the platforms you actually publish to. At one or two, the platform's own upload page is fine and a scheduler is overhead. At three or more, a multi-platform tool starts paying for itself. Check whether the tool re-encodes your video, because a second encode costs quality that the first one already spent. Check also whether it can carry your captions and description across, since re-entering those by hand is most of the work a publishing tool is supposed to remove.
